A sample 14-day journey | Gallura to Barbagia

Sardinia | Sea Chic & Mountain Authentic

Gallura: the first part
Arrive through Olbia and stay in one Gallura base. Arzachena and San Pantaleo bring together old stone, galleries and working artisans. Take a boat out toward the Piscine Naturali di Molara when the sea allows; leave another day for the coast between Liscia di Vacca and Capriccioli. Inland, the ancient olive trees of Luras offer a change of scene. You could give a whole day to the hotel, or choose more time with craft and countryside.

The move inland
After a final morning around San Pantaleo, leave the Gallura hotel and transfer to a country retreat near Oliena. You spend the night there before exploring Barbagia. The next day begins from this Oliena base with a gentle outing on Lake Cedrino, if conditions allow.

Barbagia and Ogliastra: the second part
From the Oliena base, choose among a guided walk in Gorropu, the villages and mask traditions of Mamoiada, and Nuoro’s museums. Another day might lead to the caves of Bue Marino or Grotta del Fico by boat, according to sea conditions and access. Ogliastra offers Ulassai, the Su Marmuri cave and places linked to Maria Lai; the natural pools at Bau Mela are an option for travelers who want a more active day. In autumn, a selected Autunno in Barbagia village weekend can shape this part of the trip, subject to the current calendar.

Where you stay
The sample keeps two main hotels: a quiet hillside retreat near San Pantaleo or a seafront resort on the Costa Smeralda, followed by a country hotel near Oliena. An optional night or two in Ogliastra would add a third stay. The hotels are chosen when we plan your trip.
