Sardinia History & Sea from North to South

Sardinia History & Sea from North to South

Alghero and the north-west
Begin in Alghero, with time to walk the bastions and settle into the old town. Visit Grotta di Nettuno and Monte d’Accoddi, or make a day of Castelsardo and Aggius. Argentiera offers a quieter stretch of coast. Return to Alghero between outings.

Cagliari and the south-west
Travel south to a Cagliari base and explore Castello and the crypt of Santa Restituta. From here, the Sulcis-Iglesiente mining coast, including Porto Flavia and Galleria Henry, can become a day out; Carloforte offers its harbor and Ligurian heritage. If the dates coincide with the Festa di Sant’Efisio in early May, the procession may take the place of another outing. If your dates match Girotonno, Carloforte can include the festival.

A pause in the Marmilla
A short stay at a country house near Gesturi brings Su Nuraxi di Barumini and the Giara plateau closer. A Sarcidano food experience or time in the Mandrolisai can fit if it interests you and is available. If you want to end somewhere especially quiet, a final stay at a small coastal hideaway near Capo Spartivento or among the dunes of the Costa Verde can close the journey. Those coastal stays are for slowing down, with excursions planned separately.

Where you stay
The sample route uses Alghero, then Cagliari, then one or two nights at a country house near Gesturi: three stays and two hotel changes. A requested final stay at a small coastal hideaway near Capo Spartivento or among the dunes of the Costa Verde would add a fourth stay and bring the route to up to three changes. The final night count and departure airport are set when we design the individual trip.
