Early May: Sant’Efisio and the south
Begin in Cagliari for the Festa di Sant’Efisio, traditionally held 1-4 May. A guide can help you follow part of the procession and pilgrimage toward Nora, with the days arranged around the actual program. Continue into the Marmilla for Su Nuraxi di Barumini and the Giara plateau. Depending on the trip, add a Sarcidano food experience, a winery visit or a Sulcis coast day. The days are chosen around your time in Cagliari and the countryside.

Autumn: Barbagia and the villages
Base the journey near Oliena, at a country retreat below the Supramonte. Select one or two village weekends from the current Autunno in Barbagia program for open courtyards, food and artisans. Between them, explore Mamoiada, Nuoro or the Gorropu canyon with a guide. Ogliastra can add Ulassai, Su Marmuri or an active day near Bau Mela. The villages and their dates change from year to year, so the route begins with the current calendar.

How the seasons stay separate
Sant’Efisio takes place in May; the Barbagia village weekends are in autumn. We plan around one season. Sartiglia would be a separate winter journey.
Where you stay

The May version pairs a Cagliari base with a rural stay in the Marmilla countryside. The autumn version can use a country hotel near Oliena as its main base, with another stay only if the final route calls for one. We confirm stays, guides and festival access for your travel dates.

Planning your own Sardinia journey
Tell me when you can travel and whether you feel closer to the May procession or the autumn villages. We will plan the other days around your interests. Start your inquiry and we can plan it together.
